On My Mind

When You Find Yourself...

It's so easy to get lost in this world where people say what they don't mean, do what you never thought they would, and emotions are trampled upon both purposely and accidentally. Sometimes, our sense of duty conflicts with our hearts. Either way, it's easy to get lost with all the confusion and inner conflict we endure.

But, as time goes on and we learn through our life experiences, perspective changes. That's where I am, in that place where I'm learning to view things differently and I'm finding parts of myself I didn't know was lost. We all have those lost areas that we need to reconnect with. But the path to connection is often lonely.

When you find yourself alone, your first response may be fear, but don't stop there. Push through fear and listen to your inner self. Often the noise of the world crowds out that inner whisper but if you ever want peace, you must be in contact with that voice.

When you find yourself in pain, your first response may be hopelessness, but don't stop there. You must also push through this and understand the position you are in. Pain is one of the strongest motivators in the world if you allow it to be and when you're hurting, you feel powerless. But God said His strength is made perfect in weakness, so be grateful to have a backup power supply that never fails.

In short, when you find yourself, you won't like everything you find. You aren't perfect. But you can love you for the whole person that you are and begin to walk toward the place love is leading. And with each step you make toward yourself, you'll find more tranquility and joy. And the way you interact with others will change. Their power over you will begin to fade and the chains that hold you hostage will fall away. You will discover yourself, that special person God put here for others to learn from and enjoy!
